About Us

Mission Statement

Our vision at SoHo Websites is to guide you to create a simple, useful and content rich site to support and promote your business, hobby, club or nonprofit group.

Background

Update to our work histories...we moved to North Carolina in 2004 to pursue our dream of living by the water. I put my business on hold for the move.  I have moved from the troubleshooting/admin world to web design. Security issues and operating system complexities continue to grow and require constant updates. I like creating now rather than "fixing".

My work has migrated solely to web design for SOHO (small offices, home offices) businesses. I like to help people establish their first website or redesign their site to one that is simple to view and use. I continue (and am willing) to do troubleshooting and system maintenance for web clients.

After over 25 years with the Federal Government, I left early, first to be with my husband and second to start my own business. The idea to start a SoHo Computer Services came from talking to many people that struggled to grow small businesses while coping with the challenges of computers and technology.

I use and configure all Windows Operating Systems and I am experienced in planning and configuring peer-to-peer networks and client/server networks. I troubleshoot Operating System problems and network problems.  I also handle workstation and server software installation and configuration. I optimize system performance and consult with small business owners to incorporate simple contingency plans.

During my stint at the Social Security Administration I was an Administrator of two Local Area Networks (LAN) totaling 110 users. I coached and worked with a variety of clients in my own business for 4 years.

Other interests are our cats, gardening, boating, cooking, reading and volunteering for MAD (Military Appreciation Day), a non-partisan group that takes active military fishing.

Walt worked for almost 38 years with the Federal Government and retired to boat, fish, and relax. As the troubleshooting part of my business grew he helped installing networks and replacing hardware.  While with the government he designed and installed a PC test facility Social Security uses to test software for offices across the country. Now his expertise is on his favorite hobby - fishing - and volunteering for MAD.
